What is York Comedy Festival?
York Comedy Festival is the first large-scale open air comedy festival to take place in York.  Comedy will run continuously throughout the day with an MC in between sets.

Tickets available include Premium Admission Seated with unreserved seating, Premium Admission Standing, General Admission Seated with unreserved seating and General Admission Standing.

Please note – Customers are not permitted to bring their own camping chairs and blankets.

 

When is York Comedy Festival?

This year's comedy festival will take place on Sunday 6th July 2025.  Gates will open at 2:30pm and the show is expected to end at 9:30pm.
 

What are the age restrictions?

Due to the likelihood of strong adult language, subject matter and themes, entrance is restricted to those 16 and over. If anyone in your booking looks younger than 16, please remind them to bring some ID. Refunds are not available for tickets purchased by or attempted to be used by persons who are not permitted access due to their age.
 

What is the postcode pre-sale?

Residents with postcodes YO1 | YO10 | YO19 | YO23 | YO24 | YO26 | YO30 | YO31 | YO32 are entitled to an exclusive 48-hour pre-sale when a limited number of tickets will be released ahead of general sale. 

To purchase postcode pre-sale tickets, click here, eligible customers must enter the first part of their postcode when prompted.  Please note this must match the billing address to the order.

What ticket types are available?

Premium Admission Seated ticket

Includes:

  1. Dedicated Premium Entry Lane

  2. Premium Hang Out Area with Private bar products and food offerings

  3. Premium Toilets

  4. Exclusive access to the front block of seats, closest to the stage

  5. Chairs will be provided

Premium Admission Standing ticket

Please note that this a standing area and no camping chairs, rugs, stools or other furniture will be permitted within the venue.

This ticket allows standing on the raised area in front of the museum with an improved view of the stage

Includes:

  1. Dedicated Premium Entry Lane

  2. Premium Hang Out Area with Private bar products and food offerings

  3. Premium Toilets
     

General Admission Seated ticket

Includes:

  1. Access to unreserved seating

  2. Chairs will be provided

General Admission Standing ticket

This ticket allows standing toward the rear of the venue only.  Please note that this a standing area and no camping chairs, rugs, stools or other furniture will be permitted within the venue.

Accessible Viewing Platform Ticket

For wheelchair and mobility scooter users and those who for medical reasons are unable to stand at all during the show. Chairs can be provided in this area for those who need them and there are accessible toilets in this area.

Accessible Ambulant Seated Area Ticket

A raised seating area for those who for medical reasons may need to use a seat at some points during the show. This area is not a viewing platform. Chairs will be provided for those who need them and there are accessible toilets in this area.
 

General Admission Accessible Standing Ticket 

​This ticket is fully standing within the general admission standing area. There is no seated access, includes use of all accessible facilities except those in the Accessible Ambulant Area and on the Accessible Viewing Platform.

 

All accessible tickets come with ONE complimentary essential carer/companion- please do not buy multiple accessible tickets unless there are multiple people in your party who require accessible seating. A party of two (one access customer one companion) should buy one accessible ticket. Your companion ticket will automatically be added to your order.​

What items are prohibited?

Your safety at York Museum Gardens is paramount and we continuously liaise with the appropriate authorities to ensure robust security measures are in place.  In order to ensure this is a safe environment mandatory bag searches will be carried out and we may search you, your clothing or other items.

Several items are prohibited, these include but are not exhausted to:
 

·      Glass,

·      Alcohol,

·      Food & Drink* 

·      Large, professional cameras,

·      Recording equipment,

·      Chairs & foldout blankets,

·      Large sports umbrellas

·      Bags larger than A3 size (30cm x 42cm x 19cm)

Can I bring in a refillable water bottle? 

Refillable PLASTIC water bottles are permitted but they must be empty upon arrival and no larger than 500ml. 1 x 500ml unopened plastic bottle of water is also permitted per customer
 

Can I leave the grounds once I have entered?

No, pass-outs are not permitted.  Once you have left the site there will be no re-entry.
 

What time is last entry?
Last entry is 7:45, anybody arriving after this time may be refused entry.

 

What if it rains?

York Comedy Festival, Live at York Museum Gardens is an open-air event, please plan for the weather.  Small personal umbrellas are permitted but large golf umbrellas are not.

Where do I park?  

We advise where possible to use public transport, however, public parking is available within close proximity to the event.  For more car parking information go to http://www.yorklive.info/.

Is York Museum Gardens Accessible by public transport?
York Museum Gardens is centrally located with many public transport links.
York Museum Gardens is located 0.6 miles from York Train Station.  There are several bus stops near York Museum Gardens, for more information visit www.itravelyork.info/buses

Accessible Viewing Platform Ticket

Can I bring my own chair into the event?

No, customers are not permitted to bring in their own chairs.  Seated tickets are available.
 

Will there be disabled toilets available?

Yes, disabled toilets will be on site.  These will be available at each toilet point, the accessible viewing platform and within the accessible ambulant area. Please note toilets on the accessible viewing platform and ambulant area are only available for those ticket holders.
 

Will there be Blue Badge parking available?

The event is unable to provide any reserved parking for customers. However, York has several blue badge parking locations near the Museum Gardens that we can direct you towards. Please note, these are publicly available Blue Badge spaces and hence are available on a 'first-come, first served' basis.
 

Marygate Car Park – There are 11 free parking bays for Blue Badge holders which are located between the entry and exit points.  Please note there is a fee to park in the car park.
 

Bootham Row - There are 9 dedicated Blue Badge parking bays which are available for Blue Badge holders only. In addition, Blue Badge holders can park in any bay in this car park, free of charge, for as long as they want.  More information about parking and York public transportation is available here: https://www.itravelyork.info/


Please note, Live at York Museum Gardens is an outdoor greenfield site.  Attendees may need to travel across grassy terrain to access the viewing platforms and other areas of the event.  Should we experience rain in the run-up to the events or on the day of events the terrain could become muddy and harder to navigate, please come prepared for such conditions.
